What Does a Custom Tile Shower Cost in Oklahoma City?
A useful shower budget is not a price per square foot. Most of the expensive work happens before the field tile is installed: demolition, framing correction, plumbing, the pan and drain, waterproofing, layout, edge details, glass preparation, and the conditions hidden inside the old walls.

For planning, many professionally rebuilt custom shower projects fall in the low five figures and move upward with layout changes, premium tile, custom glass, benches, niches, curbless work, or hidden damage. A full bathroom remodel is a different scope and should not be compared with a shower-only number.
Use ranges as a fit check, not a quote
An existing-layout shower with controlled selections is the least complicated custom scenario. A tub-to-shower conversion adds drain, framing, waterproofing, and glass decisions. A primary bathroom with a larger footprint, layout changes, stone, or curbless entry belongs in a higher planning tier.

Tile price matters, but it is rarely the only reason two shower bids differ.

Allowances can hide the real difference
An allowance is a placeholder, not a guaranteed installed price. Ask whether it covers material only, tax and delivery, setting materials, waste, labor, or all of those items. Large-format panels, mosaics, natural stone, and handmade tile can change handling and layout labor even when the material allowance looks adequate.
Glass and plumbing fixtures should be identified separately when they are supplied by another company. That keeps a low tile proposal from appearing to include a finished shower when major components are still unpriced.
What a useful estimate should tell you
A planning estimate should explain its assumptions: shower size, existing or changed layout, finish tier, structural work, service address, and likely unknowns. A formal proposal should go further and state inclusions, exclusions, allowances, payment schedule, change-order process, and warranty.
If a contractor gives a firm number from one photograph, the certainty is probably artificial. The best early number narrows the decision without pretending the wall has already been opened.
